Space Euphoria: Do our brains change when we leave Earth? |
Edgar Mitchell experienced the little understood phenomenon sometimes called the “Overview Effect”. He describes being completely engulfed by a profound sense of universal connectedness. Without warning, he says, a feeing of bliss, timelessness, and connectedness began to overwhelm him.

Mysterious dark matter may be near Earth
Mysterious “dark matter” could lurk near Earth, according to a new theory to explain a puzzle that has baffled space flight engineers. The suggestion that clumps of the enigmatic matter lie in our cosmic back yard, between the Earth and the Moon, has been put forward to explain a strange phenomenon called the “fly-by anomaly.” Almost every spacecraft that has swung around the Earth to speed it on its journey has recorded a velocity change that, according to the well-understood laws of gravity, should not have happened.
The World's Strangest Bathrooms
Bathrooms, whether public or private, encounter plenty of abuse. The constant inflow and outflow of water paired with limited space and high demands on hygiene and efficiency make it one of the most difficult rooms to design. But there are plenty of architects who have stepped up to the challenge. Here are some of the most innovative bathroom engineering in the world.
‘Dead Drops’ - anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space
‘Dead Drops’ is an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space. I am ‘injecting’ USB flash drives into walls, buildings and curbs accessable to anybody in public space. You are invited to go to these places (so far 5 in NYC) to drop or find files on a dead drop
Drunken Gunmen - 5 free albums - From early prog-rock to minimal white noise
Drunken Gunmen comes to us heavy in reverb and ready to rock us to the farther reaches of the universe. Their sound is best described as Bauhaus meets Space Invaders. Deep Space, Distant Future is sort of an audio science fiction epic. Instrumental tracks such as “The Thousand Light Year Stare” and “Infused” are the most effective but Graeme Kirk’s vocals are alluringly full of enough menace and angst to please even the most jaded rocker. The philosophy: Set up in a hall with various musical instruments, computers, and a bunch of electronic toys. Press record and start playing while consuming large amounts of alcohol. Pray for inspiration.
Starfish Prime - Exploding H-Bombs In Space + Declassified U.S. Nuclear Test Film
Back in the summer of 1962, the U.S. blew up a hydrogen bomb in outer space, some 250 miles above the Pacific Ocean. It was a weapons test, but one that created a man-made light show that has never been equaled — and hopefully never will.
Things you have to know before start Wormhole Time-travel
A wormhole exists at the center of a black hole. Wormholes would allow travel from one part of the universe to another part of that same universe very quickly or would allow travel from one universe to another. All around us are tiny doors that lead to the rest of the Universe. Predicted by Einstein’s equations, these quantum wormholes offer a faster-than-light short cut to the rest of the cosmos – at least in principle. Now physicists believe they could open these doors wide enough to allow someone to travel through.
